Wisdom teeth are the thrid and final set of molars that most people get in their late teen or early twenties.  They are extracted for two typical reasons: either the wisdom teeth have become impacted or the wisdom teeth are misaligned and are causing crowding in the jaw. Potential problems may include frequent infections which may cause considerable pain, as well as crowding of the teeth, especially in the lower jaw.  This can necessitate orthodontic braces if left untreated.
